Constant-current buck regulator for high-brightness LEDs
The LM3405AXMY/NOPB is a 1.6 MHz constant-current step-down (buck) regulator designed to drive a single string of high-brightness LEDs at up to 1 A. Internal power switch eliminates the need for an external MOSFET; the 3 V to 22 V input range covers automotive battery rails, industrial 12 V/24 V supplies, and lighting buses. PWM dimming input allows direct interface with a microcontroller or PWM controller for brightness control without audible noise — the 1.6 MHz switching frequency stays above the audio band.
Package and board integration
Surface-mount only. The 0.65 mm lead pitch is compatible with standard SMT assembly; no special reflow profile beyond typical Pb-free (260°C peak) is required, though the thermal pad demands adequate solder paste coverage under the die attach area.
