It compares two analog input voltages and drives the output to a logic level (open-collector) when the non-inverting input exceeds the inverting input. The open-collector outputs let it interface directly with CMOS, TTL, DTL, ECL, or MOS logic families, or pull to a higher voltage rail for level shifting. Typical applications include threshold detectors, window comparators, zero-crossing detectors, and oscillator circuits in industrial control, power-supply monitoring, and sensor signal conditioning. The wide supply range (2V to 36V single, or ±1V to ±18V dual) makes it equally at home on a 5V logic rail or a 24V industrial bus.
The 2V to 36V single-supply range means this comparator can run directly off an unregulated 24V industrial supply without a local regulator, saving a BOM line. The -25°C to 85°C temperature grade covers most factory-floor and outdoor telecom enclosures, but not extended automotive or avionics. The 2.5mA maximum quiescent current (all four comparators) is modest — fine for a powered panel, not a battery sensor node. Input offset voltage is trimmed to 2mV max at 5V, adequate for general-purpose threshold detection.
