1.5 A negative rail, adjustable down to -1.2 V
Output voltage is set with two external resistors from -1.2 V down to -37 V, covering the common negative supply needs for op-amp rails, bias generators, and analog front ends. Its 77 dB PSRR at 120 Hz means the output rejects line-frequency ripple well — useful when the negative rail shares a board with switching converters or motor drives.
Thermal and protection envelope
The TO-220-3 package allows bolt-on heatsinking; the tab is electrically connected to the output pin, so an insulating pad or mica washer is needed if the heatsink is chassis-grounded. Built-in over-temperature and short-circuit protection prevent damage under output faults or thermal runaway — the regulator folds back or shuts down rather than failing open.
