The Texas Instruments LM336Z-2.5/LFT3 is a fixed 2.49V shunt voltage reference in a through-hole TO-92-3 package. The ±4% tolerance on the output voltage means the actual Vref can sit between 2.39V and 2.59V at room temperature. For a 10-bit ADC with a 2.5V reference, that translates to roughly ±10 LSB of gain error — acceptable for general-purpose monitoring but not for high-accuracy metrology without a trim.
Through-hole package and rework
The TO-92-3 package is a three-lead through-hole format. It survives multiple soldering cycles without issue — the leads are robust enough to bend and trim for perfboard or prototype work. Rework is simple: heat the pads with a soldering iron, pull the part, clean the holes with solder wick, and insert a fresh one. No hot-air station needed — the through-hole format is the most field-serviceable option in the LM336 family.
The part ships in Cut Tape (CT) or Tape & Box (TB) packaging, which suits both prototyping and low-volume production runs.
