What the 0.5V/µs slew rate means for your signal chain
The LM324KAN is a quad general-purpose op-amp from TI, packing four amplifiers into a single 14-pin DIP. Its 0.5V/µs slew rate sets a practical ceiling: a 1 V peak-to-peak sine wave starts distorting above about 80 kHz, so this is a part for audio, sensor conditioning, and DC-level shifting — not for fast ADC drivers or high-speed loops.
Single-supply workhorse, but watch the output drive
Runs on anything from 3 V to 30 V single supply, or ±1.5 V to ±15 V split. Total quiescent current for all four amps is only 1.4 mA, so it fits into a regulated 5 V rail without cooking the board.
Through-hole DIP: field-swappable, socket-friendly
The 14-DIP (0.300" width) footprint is a standard socketable package. No hot-air station needed — a technician can swap this on site with a puller and a fresh socket. The 15 nA input bias current and 2 mV input offset are typical for the LM324 family; good enough for 8-bit-level accuracy, but you will want to trim the offset for precision work.
TI lists the LM324KAN as Active. The base product number LM324 has a long production history, so supply continuity is predictable.
