Adjustable 100 mA regulator in 8-SOIC
The Texas Instruments LM317LM/NOPB is a three-terminal adjustable positive voltage regulator delivering up to 100 mA output current. Output voltage is set by two external resistors from 1.2 V to 37 V, with a maximum input of 40 V. The 8-SOIC surface-mount package suits compact board layouts where the through-hole LM317T cannot fit.
PSRR and noise rejection at 120 Hz
Ripple rejection is specified at 80 dB to 65 dB at 120 Hz, which is the fundamental frequency of full-wave rectified 60 Hz mains. This means the regulator attenuates input ripple by a factor of 10,000 to 1,800 — sufficient for clean analog supply rails in instrumentation or audio circuits where the downstream PSRR of op-amps is limited.
Industrial temperature range and protection
Built-in protection includes over-current, over-temperature, and short-circuit shutdown — no external clamp diodes needed for output short to ground.
The NOPB suffix indicates a lead-free (NiPdAu) finish, RoHS-compliant, and compatible with standard Pb-free reflow profiles.
