General-purpose comparator with flexible output drive
The Texas Instruments LM311M/NOPB is a general-purpose voltage comparator in an 8-SOIC package, designed for single-supply operation from 5V to 36V or dual supplies from ±2.5V to ±18V. Its output stage supports DTL, MOS, open-collector, open-emitter, RTL, and TTL logic families, making it a versatile interface between analog threshold circuits and digital logic inputs. The 0.25µA maximum input bias current at ±15V and 7.5mV maximum input offset voltage suit precision threshold detection in low-frequency signal chains.
The wide single-supply range (5V to 36V) lets it share a rail with 5V logic or 24V industrial sensors without a separate regulator, simplifying the power tree. Quiescent current is 7.5mA maximum, a reasonable budget for a general-purpose comparator in a mixed-signal design.
