Dropout and headroom — the number that decides fit
The dropout voltage is 1 V maximum at 500 mA output. That sets the minimum input-to-output differential: supply the input at 4.3 V or higher to keep the output regulated at 3.3 V under full load. Below that headroom the output drops out of regulation.
Temperature grade and protection
Built-in protection against over-temperature, reverse polarity, and short circuit means the regulator survives a miswired battery connection or a sustained output fault without latching up.
