3.3 V fixed LDO with 500 mA output and 1 V dropout ceiling
It is designed for applications that need a clean, regulated 3.3 V rail from a higher input voltage — up to 26 V maximum — with a maximum dropout voltage of 1 V at 50 mA load. The fixed output eliminates the need for external resistor dividers, simplifying the BOM.
Dropout and quiescent current — the headroom and idle budget
The dropout voltage is specified at a maximum of 1 V at 50 mA output. That means the input must stay at least 1 V above 3.3 V to maintain regulation at light loads; at full 500 mA the dropout will be higher, so budget a 2 V headroom for the rail design. Quiescent current is 2 mA typical, which keeps the idle draw low for always-on or battery-backed rails.
Protection suite and temperature grade
Built-in over-temperature shutdown, reverse polarity protection, and short-circuit current limiting reduce the need for external protection diodes or foldback circuits.
Package and mounting — DDPAK footprint for power dissipation
Supplied in a TO-263-4 (D²Pak) surface-mount package with three leads plus a tab — the tab is the ground path and the primary heat sink.
