Quad comparator with AEC-Q100 screening for automotive and industrial
The four independent comparators share a common supply range of 2 V to 36 V on a single rail, or ±1 V to ±18 V on dual supplies, which covers the 5 V, 12 V, and 24 V buses common in vehicle electronics. Each output is open-collector, allowing wired-OR connections and level translation to CMOS, MOS, or TTL logic families.
The 2 V to 36 V single-supply range means this comparator can be powered directly from an automotive battery line or a regulated 3.3 V / 5 V rail without a secondary supply. The 2.5 mA maximum quiescent current per device keeps the standing power low in always-on modules like window lift controllers or seat-position sensors. The 0.25 µA maximum input bias current at 5 V minimises voltage error when the comparator is used with high-impedance sensor bridges or resistive dividers. Maximum input offset voltage is 7 mV at 5 V, which sets the threshold accuracy floor for window comparators and zero-crossing detectors. For applications requiring tighter offset, the standard LM2901 or an automotive-grade precision comparator would be needed.
Package, mounting, and lifecycle
The base product number is LM2901, and this variant carries the 'V' suffix indicating AEC-Q100 qualification and the 'Q1' suffix for automotive-grade release.
