What this quad comparator does on the board
The LM2901PWRE4 is a quad differential comparator — four independent comparators in a single 14-TSSOP package. Each compares two input voltages and drives the output high or low depending on which input is higher. The output types cover CMOS, MOS, open-collector, and TTL, which means it interfaces directly with most logic families without extra level shifting. It is the same core as the industry-standard LM2901, a part used everywhere for zero-crossing detectors, window comparators, level translators, and oscillator circuits in industrial control, motor drives, and power-supply monitoring.

The supply range spans 2 V to 30 V single supply, or ±1 V to ±15 V dual supplies. The 14-TSSOP package is a surface-mount footprint, 4.40 mm wide — standard for compact PCB layouts.

Quiescent current maxes at 2.5 mA for all four comparators, which keeps the power budget tight in multi-channel designs. Input offset voltage is 7 mV max at 30 V supply — typical parts are tighter, but the 7 mV ceiling sets the worst-case threshold error for a window comparator. Input bias current is 0.25 µA max at 5 V, so high-impedance sources like a thermistor divider need a buffer or a lower-value divider to stay accurate.
