Charge-pump LED driver for camera flash applications
The Texas Instruments LM2753SD/NOPB is a DC DC regulator using a switched-capacitor (charge pump) topology, delivering up to 400 mA of flash current from a single output. It is designed specifically for camera flash applications where a compact, inductor-less boost solution is needed. PWM dimming input allows the flash intensity to be controlled by a microcontroller PWM signal, while the 725 kHz switching frequency keeps external capacitor sizes small and ripple manageable.
Supply rails and output regulation
The regulated output sits between 4.75 V and 5.25 V, which is the typical voltage needed to bias a series LED string in flash mode. The device integrates the switching FETs internally — no external inductor or Schottky diode is required, saving board area. The 10-WFDFN exposed-pad package (3 mm × 3 mm SON) provides a low thermal resistance path to the PCB ground plane.
