Active production — no BOM risk
The LM27222SD/NOPB: ROHS3 compliant per the lifecycle entry, so it ships without RoHS exemption risk for EU-bound assemblies.
Half-bridge drive for synchronous buck stages
The LM27222SD/NOPB is a half-bridge gate driver configured for synchronous N-channel MOSFETs. It drives the high-side and low-side FETs in a buck converter, with the high-side bootstrapped up to 33 V maximum — enough headroom for a 12 V input bus plus margin. Two drivers on-chip, non-inverting input logic. The 4 V to 6.85 V supply range ties it to a 5 V bias rail common in intermediate bus architectures.
Gate drive strength and switching speed
Peak output current is 3 A source and 4.5 A sink — the asymmetric sink strength pulls the gate down faster than it charges, which helps hold the low-side FET off during the dead-time interval. Typical rise time is 17 ns, fall time 12 ns into the rated load. For a 10 nC gate charge (typical of a small TO-220 MOSFET), the 4.5 A sink discharges the gate in roughly 2.2 ns — fast enough to keep cross-conduction losses low in a 500 kHz to 1 MHz switching regulator.
Package and thermal interface
Supplied in an 8-WDFN with exposed pad, also designated as 8-WSON (4x4 mm). The 4x4 mm footprint fits tight layouts near the power stage.
