Buck controller in a 48-WQFN — what the supply range means for the rail
The LM27213SQ/NOPB is a step-down buck controller from Texas Instruments, packaged in a 48-WFQFN with exposed pad. Its 4.75 V to 6 V Vcc/Vdd supply range is narrow — this is a dedicated 5 V rail controller, not a wide-VIN part. The synchronous rectifier means the low-side FET is driven on-chip, so the external pair handles the power stage without a separate Schottky catch diode.
Temperature grade and environment
Rated for -5°C to 105°C ambient (TA), the LM27213SQ/NOPB covers most industrial and telecom indoor environments but does not reach the -40°C low end that automotive or outdoor gear requires.
Control features and what they do for the BOM
Current limit, enable, power good, and soft start are all integrated — no external sequencing supervisor needed for a single-rail power tree. The soft start ramps the output on enable, limiting inrush into the output caps. Power good flags the downstream load when the output is within regulation, which saves a comparator on the board.
