Product details

5 A buck at 260 kHz — the SIMPLE SWITCHER workhorse

The LM2677SD-ADJ is a 5 A step-down (buck) regulator from the SIMPLE SWITCHER® family, switching at 260 kHz from an 8 V to 40 V input rail. It is not a synchronous rectifier design — the external catch diode (a Schottky, typically rated for the input voltage and output current) handles the freewheeling current. That diode selection directly sets the efficiency at high duty cycles and the thermal stress at the switch node.

Package and rework — 14-VSON exposed pad

The PCB land pattern should mirror the pad dimensions and connect to a copper plane — the junction-to-board thermal resistance drops significantly with a solid via array under the pad. It will survive a hot-air rework cycle if the board is preheated to 100-120°C; the pad orientation is clear from the chamfered corner on the package outline.
