3 A automotive buck in a rework-friendly HTSSOP

The LM26003QMH/NOPB is a single-output, adjustable step-down (buck) regulator from Texas Instruments, rated for 3 A continuous output current over a 3 V to 38 V input range. It switches between 150 kHz and 500 kHz, with no synchronous rectifier — the external Schottky diode carries the catch current, which simplifies the layout but adds a diode drop to the efficiency curve. The adjustable output is set via external resistors from a 1.236 V reference up to 35 V.

Rework and thermal-pad layout

Without that thermal connection, the junction-to-ambient resistance climbs and the 3 A output derates early. The pin pitch is 0.65 mm, which is hand-solderable with a fine tip and flux, but the exposed pad needs a hot-air station or reflow profile. Pad 1 is marked by a chamfer on the package body — the orientation is unambiguous under magnification.

It is ROHS3 compliant and carries the Automotive, AEC-Q100 series designation, meaning it meets the stress and reliability qualification for automotive-grade ICs.
