The LM2594HVN-12/NOPB: It is a fixed 12 V output, 500 mA capable buck regulator from the SIMPLE SWITCHER® family, built for step-down conversion from a 4.5 V to 60 V input rail.
60 V input ceiling — sizing the supply side
The 60 V maximum input means this part handles 48 V industrial buses with margin for transients, and 24 V rails with plenty of headroom for cold-crank dips down to 4.5 V. At 150 kHz switching frequency, the inductor will be physically larger than a modern 500 kHz+ design, but the lower switching losses and simpler layout make it forgiving for through-hole builds.
Through-hole package — board-fit reality
No synchronous rectifier is integrated, so an external Schottky diode is required for the catch diode function; the efficiency at light loads will be lower than a synchronous part, but the simplicity and cost of the external diode are well understood.
Temperature grade and compliance
ROHS3 compliant — no exemption issues for EU or California markets, and no lead or phthalate restrictions to track.
