That 60 V ceiling covers 48 V telecom rails, 24 V industrial buses, and 12 V automotive systems with generous headroom for transients. The 52 kHz switching frequency is low by modern standards — you will need a larger inductor (typically 100 µH range) than a 500 kHz part, but the trade-off is lower switching losses and better efficiency at light loads.

Temperature range and package — field-swappable design

The TO-220-5 formed leads package is through-hole — you can swap it on site with a soldering iron and a desoldering pump, no hot-air station needed. The formed leads let you mount it vertically for airflow or horizontally for low-profile builds. No synchronous rectifier means an external Schottky diode is required; the datasheet recommends a 3 A, 40 V Schottky for the catch diode.
