4V to 60V input — wide-rail step-down for industrial and automotive
The Texas Instruments LM2576HVT-15/NOPB is a SIMPLE SWITCHER® buck regulator that accepts an input from 4V to 60V and delivers a fixed 15V output at up to 3A. The wide input range covers unregulated supplies like 24V industrial rails, 48V telecom buses, and 12V automotive systems that can swing above 40V during load dump. Switching at 52 kHz keeps the external inductor and output capacitor physically larger than a modern high-frequency part, but the low frequency minimizes switching losses and eases layout — a practical trade-off when the priority is reliability over board area.
Fixed 15V output — no feedback divider, fewer BOM positions
The output is internally set to 15V with ±4% tolerance over line, load, and temperature. No external resistor divider is needed, which removes two components and eliminates a potential noise injection path on the feedback node. The output is positive and non-synchronous — an external Schottky catch diode is required. The TO-220-5 package with through-hole mounting suits point-of-load regulators on power boards where thermal vias are impractical. The tab is the switch node; a heatsink is recommended above 1.5A output at elevated ambient.
The 'HVT' suffix denotes the high-temperature variant; standard LM2576 parts are typically rated to 125°C junction as well, but this version is explicitly binned for the full range.
For a high-volume industrial BOM line, this means no forced redesign cycle from a discontinued regulator.
