Hot swap controller for 2.9V to 17V backplane insertion
The LM25069PMM-2/NOPB: It operates from a 2.9V to 17V supply, covering common intermediate bus and point-of-load voltages in telecom, datacom, and industrial equipment. The controller integrates programmable current limit, fault timeout, overvoltage protection (OVP), and undervoltage lockout (UVLO), making it suitable for general-purpose hot swap applications where the load must be isolated from the supply during insertion and fault events.
Programmable protection and auto-retry behaviour
Key programmable features include current limit, fault timeout, OVP, and UVLO thresholds, set by external resistors. The auto-retry feature means that after a fault clears, the controller automatically attempts to restart the output, eliminating the need for a manual reset or power cycle in unattended systems. The device draws 1.6 mA from the supply during normal operation, well below the thermal budget of the 10-VSSOP package. No internal switch is provided, so an external N-channel MOSFET must be added to the design — the controller drives the gate to regulate the inrush current and protect the MOSFET's SOA.
