Wide-input multi-topology controller for isolated and non-isolated rails
The LM25037MT/NOPB is a current-mode PWM controller that handles step-up, step-down, and step-up/step-down topologies including full-bridge, half-bridge, and push-pull configurations. Switching frequency goes up to 2 MHz, which lets you use smaller magnetics than a 100-500 kHz controller. The trade-off is tighter layout: the 2 MHz edge rate couples into the sense and ramp pins unless the feedback loop is kept short and the power stage is physically separated from the control side. With a 96% maximum duty cycle, the controller maintains regulation near dropout in step-down mode and supports the extended on-time needed for step-up conversion. On-chip dead-time control and programmable soft start reduce the external component count to the power stage, compensation network, and a few timing resistors.
Temperature grade and package — board-fit constraints
This covers engine-bay ambient and enclosures near hot power stages without a heat sink, provided the total power dissipation stays within the 16-TSSOP's thermal limits. The 16-TSSOP package measures 4.40 mm wide with a 0.65 mm pitch. The narrow body fits dense boards, but 0.65 mm pitch demands a stencil aperture of about 0.30 mm width for reliable solder paste release — a standard 0.125 mm stencil thickness works, but the aspect ratio is tight.
