Linear 10 mV/°C analog output — no scaling math
The LM235H delivers an analog voltage output that scales 10 mV per degree Celsius — a 25°C reading gives 2.5 V, 100°C gives 3.5 V, and so on. This linear scale means a microcontroller's ADC reads the temperature directly without a conversion table or gain stage. For a system that logs ambient temperature or monitors a heatsink, this is adequate without calibration; a precision measurement loop would need a one-point trim at the system level.
Hermetic TO-46 metal can — through-hole mounting
The TO-206AB / TO-46-3 metal can package is hermetically sealed — the case itself is the thermal path, so mounting the can flat against a surface (with a dab of thermal grease) gives faster settling than a plastic-molded sensor. Through-hole leads make it a hand-solderable repair part for existing boards. The bulk packaging means no reel or tape — it ships in tubes or trays, which is fine for prototype runs or MRO replenishment but not for high-speed pick-and-place without a tube feeder.
