What the ±0.01% linearity means for your signal chain
The LM231AN/NOPB is a voltage-to-frequency converter — it outputs a pulse train whose frequency is proportional to the input voltage. The ±0.01% linearity spec means the deviation from an ideal straight-line transfer function is within 100 ppm of full scale across the operating range, so a 0–10 V input mapping to 0–100 kHz output stays within 10 Hz of the ideal frequency at any point. The full-scale drift is ±50 ppm/°C, which sets the thermal stability floor. A 10 °C ambient shift moves the output by 0.05% of full scale — for a 100 kHz full-scale output that is 50 Hz of drift. If the system sees a 50 °C swing, budget 250 Hz of zero-and-gain shift before any software compensation.
The supplier device package is 8-PDIP; the 0.300-inch width is the narrow DIP variant, not the 0.600-inch wide-body, so verify the board layout matches the narrower row spacing.
