Video sync separator for composite video
The Texas Instruments LM1881M/NOPB extracts composite sync, vertical sync, burst/back porch, and odd/even field information from standard-definition video signals. It handles NTSC, PAL, and SECAM formats — three dominant broadcast standards — so a single BOM position serves global video input designs. Operating from a 5V to 12V supply, the part integrates directly into the analog front-end of a video decoder or capture card without a separate voltage rail. Sourcing and cross-reference decision
The LMH1981 runs from a 3.3V supply and uses a serial interface, versus the LM1881's 5V-12V analog input. The two parts are not pin-compatible — the LMH1981 is in a different package — so a board spin is needed to swap one for the other. For an existing design locked to the LM1881M/NOPB, the active lifecycle means no urgency to migrate.
