6-channel capacitive isolator rated for harsh environments
The TI ISO7762FDW is a 6-channel, unidirectional digital isolator using capacitive coupling technology. It delivers 100 Mbps data rate across a reinforced 5000 Vrms isolation barrier, with 85 kV/µs minimum common-mode transient immunity. Four channels drive from side 1 to side 2, and two channels go the other direction — a 4/2 split that suits SPI-plus-interrupt or UART-plus-control-signal isolation.
The 5000 Vrms isolation rating qualifies this part for reinforced insulation in mains-connected equipment — think motor drives, grid-tied inverters, and medical power supplies where the safety standard demands a double-insulation barrier. The 85 kV/µs CMTI ensures the data link stays intact during fast common-mode voltage transients typical of SiC/GaN switching stages. For a 16-SOIC wide-body package, that isolation voltage is at the high end of the range; you can often drop a separate isolated DC-DC module if the signal side only needs a few milliamps.
Propagation delay and timing margin
Maximum propagation delay is 16 ns in both directions, with pulse-width distortion capped at 4.9 ns. The 1.1 ns rise and 1.4 ns fall times are fast enough for 100 Mbps signalling but not so aggressive that they cause ringing on a poorly laid-out board. When budgeting timing for a 50 MHz SPI clock, the 16 ns delay eats about one clock period — factor it into the setup/hold calculation at the receiver.
