Automotive-grade 2-channel isolator for harsh environments
The Texas Instruments ISO7320CQDRQ1 is a 2-channel, unidirectional digital isolator using capacitive coupling, rated for 3000 Vrms isolation and a 25 Mbps data rate. The 2/0 input-side count means both channels face the same direction — both inputs on side 1, outputs on side 2. This is a forward-only isolation path, not a bidirectional or mixed-direction part.
25 Mbps data rate and 57 ns propagation delay — timing budget
Maximum propagation delay is 57 ns and pulse-width distortion is 4 ns. The 25 kV/µs minimum common-mode transient immunity (CMTI) is the spec to check when the isolator sits between a microcontroller and a gate driver in a motor inverter or DC-DC converter. Fast-switching SiC or GaN stages can generate transients above this threshold; for those designs, a part with higher CMTI (e.g., the ISO7741QDWRQ1 at 40 kV/µs) would be a better fit.
Package and footprint — 8-SOIC with no isolated power
No isolated power is provided on-chip — both sides share the same ground reference through the supply rails. For applications requiring separate ground domains, an external isolated DC-DC or a part with integrated power (like the ISO7741QDWRQ1) would be needed.
