Single-channel capacitive isolator for industrial signal isolation
It supports a data rate of 25 Mbps, making it suitable for isolating SPI, UART, and general-purpose digital signals in industrial control, motor drives, and isolated power supplies.
25 Mbps data rate and 58 ns propagation delay — timing budget fit
With a maximum propagation delay of 58 ns (both tpLH and tpHL) and a pulse-width distortion of 4 ns max, the ISO7310CDR fits into timing budgets for isolated SPI at up to 12.5 MHz half-duplex or UART at standard baud rates. The 2.5 ns rise and 2 ns fall times keep signal integrity clean on short PCB traces. Compare this to a two-channel sibling like the ISO7221CDR, which offers the same 25 Mbps data rate and 25 kV/µs CMTI but adds a second channel for bidirectional isolation — useful when isolating both TX and RX in a UART link. The ISO7310CDR's single-channel unidirectional path is the right choice when only one direction needs isolation, saving board area and cost.
The 3000 Vrms isolation rating (per UL 1577) provides basic isolation for 240 VAC mains-referenced circuits, motor-drive phase rails, and medical equipment where patient protection is required. The 25 kV/µs common-mode transient immunity ensures the output does not glitch when fast voltage transients (e.g., from IGBT switching or relay bounce) slam across the isolation barrier. For a motor-drive application with 600 V DC bus and 50 kHz PWM, that CMTI margin keeps the isolated feedback path clean without external filtering.
For production BOMs that require a single-channel unidirectional isolator, this part is a stable choice for multi-year builds.
