Active production, 150 Mbps capacitive isolator for industrial signal chains
The Texas Instruments ISO7241MDWR is a general-purpose, 4-channel digital isolator using capacitive coupling technology, rated for 150 Mbps data rate and 2500 Vrms isolation.
The 150 Mbps data rate supports high-speed serial interfaces such as SPI, UART, and CAN without adding timing margin concerns. Propagation delay is 23 ns max in both directions, with 2 ns typical rise/fall times and pulse-width distortion held to 2 ns max — tight enough to preserve signal integrity across the isolation barrier. The 25 kV/µs common-mode transient immunity (CMTI) ensures the output does not glitch when large voltage transients slam across the barrier, a requirement in motor-drive and inverter environments where fast-switching power stages generate high dv/dt.
Supply range and 5 V logic compatibility
For a 5 V logic system, simply connect VCC1 and VCC2 to 5 V; the inputs and outputs are 5 V-tolerant across the full supply range.
Package and footprint — 16-SOIC wide-body
The wide-body format provides the creepage distance needed to maintain the 2500 Vrms isolation rating in PCB layouts. Surface-mount assembly follows standard reflow profiles; no special handling beyond MSL precautions is required.
Sourcing and availability
For dual-sourcing or supply resilience, the ISO7241C is a functional alternative within the same family — verify pin compatibility and timing differences against your design before substituting.
