Why this 1 Mbps capacitive isolator instead of an optocoupler
The ISO7221ADG4: It delivers 1 Mbps per channel with typical rise/fall times of 1 ns and a maximum propagation delay of 475 ns in each direction.
At 1 Mbps the ISO7221ADG4 handles UART, SPI, and CAN protocols. The 475 ns max propagation delay adds about one bit-time of latency at 1 Mbps. The 25 kV/µs minimum CMTI keeps the output clean during fast motor-drive switching.
No isolated power is generated on-chip — each side needs its own supply rail, which is standard for digital isolators in this class.
