Automotive-grade I2C isolation with 2500Vrms
The Texas Instruments ISO1540QDRQ1 is a 2-channel bidirectional I2C isolator using capacitive coupling technology, rated for 2500Vrms isolation. It is qualified to AEC-Q100, making it suitable for automotive systems such as battery management, ADAS sensor interfaces, and in-vehicle infotainment where galvanic isolation is required between I2C buses operating at different potentials or ground references.
The device operates from a single 3V to 5.5V supply on each side, allowing direct connection to 3.3V or 5V I2C domains without level shifters. Common mode transient immunity of 25kV/µs minimum ensures data integrity in noisy environments like motor drives and switching power supplies.
Housed in an 8-SOIC package with a 3.90mm body width, the ISO1540QDRQ1 is surface-mount and fits standard SOIC-8 footprints. No isolated power is required on the secondary side — the device draws power from the I2C bus side supplies.
