Product details

I²C isolator for industrial isolation barriers

The Texas Instruments ISO1540DR is a capacitive-coupling I²C isolator that provides a 2500Vrms isolation barrier across two bidirectional channels, each supporting data rates up to 1Mbps.

2500Vrms isolation and common-mode transient immunity

With a minimum common-mode transient immunity of 25kV/µs, the ISO1540DR keeps the data path intact during fast voltage transients across the isolation barrier — critical in motor-drive and inverter environments where switching noise couples into the bus. The 2500Vrms isolation rating covers basic insulation for industrial and medical applications.

Supply and signal compatibility

Both sides of the isolator share the same supply voltage, so no isolated DC-DC is needed — just the two I²C bus pull-up resistors. The bidirectional channels handle clock and data lines directly.

Housed in an 8-pin SOIC package (8-SOIC, 3.90mm width), surface-mount only.

Frequently asked questions

Does ISO1540DR require an isolated power supply?

No. The ISO1540DR does not require an isolated power supply — it operates from a single 3V to 5.5V supply on both sides, so no secondary DC-DC converter is needed.
