Precision current sense in an 8-SOIC
Its 5 µV input offset voltage and 400 kHz bandwidth make it a fit for motor-drive phase monitoring, solenoid current control, and DC-DC converter output sensing where you need both DC accuracy and enough speed to catch switching transients.
The 400 kHz -3 dB bandwidth sets the usable signal frequency. For a PWM-driven load switching at 20 kHz, the amplifier tracks the fundamental and several harmonics, giving a faithful representation of the average current. Input bias current is 90 µA — typical for a current-sense amplifier with a low-impedance shunt path. The shunt value should be kept low enough that the voltage drop from bias current is negligible compared to the signal.

Housed in an 8-SOIC package, the INA240A3DR uses a standard 0.154-inch-wide body with 1.27 mm pin pitch. The footprint matches any generic SOIC-8 land pattern, and the pins are well-spaced for hand-soldering or rework with a standard iron — no hot-air station needed for a field swap. Supply current is 1.8 mA, which keeps the self-heating low and the thermal budget manageable even in a tightly packed board. Surface-mount assembly is the only mounting option — no through-hole variant.
