What this serializer does on the board
The National Semiconductor DS92LV1021AMSA is a 10-input serializer that takes parallel LVCMOS or LVTTL data and serializes it onto a single LVDS output pair at up to 400 Mbps. That 10:1 reduction in trace count is what makes it useful for camera links, flat-panel display interfaces, and backplane data aggregation where board area and EMI matter. The 3V to 3.6V supply range keeps it on the same rail as a typical 3.3V FPGA or ASIC bank. Operating from -40°C to 85°C, it is rated for industrial environments — motor-drive cabinets, outdoor telecom cabinets, factory-floor controllers — not for under-hood automotive.
Lifecycle and compliance
The RoHS compliance flag is marked non-compliant — this part uses lead-bearing solder terminations.
