LVDS transceiver for point-to-point and multidrop links
NRND — plan a replacement for production builds
That means TI still manufactures it for existing BOMs, but it is no longer the target for new board spins. If you are qualifying a fresh design, look at the current-generation LVDS transceiver family in the same 16-TSSOP footprint — the pinout and supply range are consistent across the series, so the swap should be a layout-compatible drop-in.
Full-duplex operation means the two driver/receiver pairs can transmit and receive simultaneously, which doubles the effective throughput on a single connector compared to half-duplex schemes. At 400 Mbps per channel, the DS90LV049TMT supports uncompressed 1080p video at 60 Hz over a single twisted pair, or aggregates multiple lower-speed control signals into one high-speed serial stream. The LVDS signalling keeps the edge rates controlled, so the signal-integrity budget on a typical FR4 backplane stays manageable without expensive equalisation.
Temperature range and supply — industrial environment ready
The 16-TSSOP package is a fine-pitch surface-mount footprint — store the reels dry (MSL 1 per TI's standard LVDS family), and reflow with a typical lead-free profile.
