That means the die and assembly lines are still running, but the part is on a known end-of-life path with no committed lifetime buy window published. For an existing production BOM this is a flag to qualify a drop-in replacement before the last-time-buy notice arrives. For a new design, route around it now.

That matters when the transceiver sits next to a hot processor or inside a sealed enclosure with no active cooling. The LVDS outputs maintain signal integrity across the whole range, so a design validated at 25°C doesn't need a re-spin for the high-temperature corner.
