Motor driver with integrated power stage
The Texas Instruments DRV8801PWP is a fully integrated brushed DC motor driver that combines the control logic and DMOS power stage in a single 16-PowerTSSOP package. It drives one brushed DC motor or one phase of a bipolar stepper motor from a supply rail spanning 8 V to 38 V. The output stage is configured as two half-bridges, delivering up to 2.8 A continuous. The parallel interface accepts logic-level commands directly, so no serial protocol overhead or external translator is needed for simple forward/reverse/brake control.
Load voltage and current capability
The 8 V to 38 V supply range covers common 12 V and 24 V industrial and automotive rails. The 2.8 A continuous output current is the nominal rating at the device level; the actual current in a given application is limited by the PCB copper area under the exposed thermal pad and the ambient temperature.
The surface-mount footprint is standard for this package family, so layout guidelines from the DRV8801 datasheet apply directly. The device ships in a tube, not tape-and-reel. For automated assembly, confirm the tube-to-tape conversion with your contract manufacturer or request the tape-and-reel variant if one exists in the family.
Lifecycle and compliance
No other compliance documentation (REACH, UL, IEC) is listed in the available records; verify additional regulatory requirements with your compliance team.
