2.8A output and half-bridge topology
The two half-bridges let you drive a bipolar stepper motor in full-step or half-step modes, or run two independent brushed DC motors with forward/reverse control. The 2.8A per-bridge rating covers small pumps, fans, mirror actuators, and seat-position motors typical in automotive body electronics. The DMOS output stage keeps conduction losses low enough that a 16-pin QFN with exposed pad can dissipate the heat without an external heatsink in many designs.
For dual-sourcing consideration, the DRV8811PWPR is a functionally similar part with four half-bridges and a lower 1.9A output, but it is a general-purpose device without AEC-Q100 qualification — not a direct automotive drop-in.
