Product details

The Texas Instruments DRV8800RTYR is a fully integrated DMOS motor driver that packs both control logic and power stage into a single 16-QFN package. It drives one brushed DC motor or one bipolar stepper motor, with the two half-bridges configured for bidirectional current control. The parallel interface accepts simple step/direction or PWM signals from a microcontroller, so no serial protocol overhead is needed — useful for retrofit designs where the existing controller has spare GPIO but no SPI/I²C port.

2.8 A output and 8-38 V supply — sizing the load line

The 2.8 A continuous output current sets the torque ceiling for the motor.

Frequently asked questions

Can DRV8800RTYR drive a 12 V stepper motor?

Yes. The 8-38 V supply range covers 12 V rails, and the 2.8 A output is sufficient for NEMA 17 and smaller NEMA 23 bipolar steppers.

Can DRV8800RTYR replace DRV8825?

The DRV8825 is a different device with microstepping and current regulation features not present on the DRV8800RTYR. The DRV8800RTYR uses a simpler parallel interface and lacks the DRV8825's built-in indexer. They are not drop-in replacements.
