What the DRV8800RTYR is and where it fits
The Texas Instruments DRV8800RTYR is a fully integrated DMOS motor driver that packs both control logic and power stage into a single 16-QFN package. It drives one brushed DC motor or one bipolar stepper motor, with the two half-bridges configured for bidirectional current control. The parallel interface accepts simple step/direction or PWM signals from a microcontroller, so no serial protocol overhead is needed — useful for retrofit designs where the existing controller has spare GPIO but no SPI/I²C port.
2.8 A output and 8-38 V supply — sizing the load line
The 2.8 A continuous output current sets the torque ceiling for the motor.
Temperature grade — -40°C to 150°C junction
The -40°C to 150°C junction temperature range covers cold-start engine bays and hot motor windings without derating.
