What this driver does on your board
The Texas Instruments DRV8434PRGER is a fully integrated bipolar stepper motor driver that combines control logic and power stage in one package. It drives one bipolar stepper motor or two brushed DC motors using a PWM interface, with each half-bridge rated for 2.5 A continuous output. The supply range spans 4.5 V to 48 V. The internal Power MOSFET stage eliminates the need for discrete FETs and freewheeling diodes on the motor outputs, shrinking the BOM for a compact drive stage. The operating temperature range of -40°C to 125°C covers unventilated enclosures on a factory floor or outdoor telecom pedestals.
48 V supply, 2.5 A output — what that means for your motion axis
The half-bridge (2) output configuration means two full H-bridges are integrated internally, one per winding for a bipolar stepper. Each bridge handles the full 2.5 A, so no external current-sense resistors or recirculation diodes are needed — the part manages the current regulation cycle internally via the PWM interface.
Lifecycle and compliance — active, no obsolescence risk
ROHS3 compliance covers the EU RoHS exemption list; no lead or restricted-substance issues for global shipping.
