Product details

Stepper drive with 1/256 microstepping and 2.5 A per phase

The DRV8424PWPR is a fully integrated bipolar stepper motor driver from Texas Instruments, combining the control logic and power stage in a single 28-PowerTSSOP package. It drives one bipolar stepper motor at up to 2.5 A per phase from a load supply of 4.5 V to 33 V. The Step/Direction interface accepts external pulse trains, and the step resolution is programmable from full-step down to 1/256 microstepping, giving smooth low-speed motion and reducing mid-range resonance.

Load voltage and current — sizing the power rail

The 2.5 A continuous output per phase is the peak current the H-bridge can sustain; the actual motor current should be set via the chopper reference to stay within the package's thermal limit at the ambient temperature. The internal Power MOSFETs eliminate the need for external FETs and freewheeling diodes in most designs, reducing BOM count and PCB area. The half-bridge (2) output configuration drives a single bipolar stepper winding per bridge.

Available in Tape & Reel (TR) and Cut Tape (CT) options, the part is compatible with automated pick-and-place assembly. The surface-mount package suits high-volume production lines.

Active production — sourcing posture

It is sourced through authorized and independent distribution channels; pricing and lead time are confirmed at RFQ against the specific BOM quantity.
