Single-axis Hall sensing with wide supply margin
This is a single-axis linear Hall-effect sensor that outputs an analog voltage proportional to the magnetic flux density. The ±18 mT sensing range suits applications like linear position detection, current sensing via a ferrite core, or contactless rotary angle measurement where the magnetic field stays within that window. Supply voltage spans 2.7 V to 38 V, so it runs directly off a 12 V or 24 V automotive battery rail without an intermediate regulator — a BOM simplification for ECU designers. The 20 kHz bandwidth is enough for PWM-synchronous current sensing in motor drives or solenoid control loops. That matters for under-hood or transmission-mounted applications where the sensor sees the engine's thermal cycle.
Package and mounting for retrofit and new designs
The DRV5053RAQLPGQ1 comes in a TO-92-3 through-hole package. Three leads — VDD, GND, output — make it a drop-in replacement for older TO-92 Hall sensors in existing boards. The through-hole body also simplifies hand-assembly in rework or low-volume production. For a pick-and-place line, the TO-92-3 requires a custom feeder or manual placement; factor that into the assembly process decision.
