Package and board-fit for the TO-92-3 footprint
The DRV5053EAELPGMQ1 comes in a TO-226-3 / TO-92-3 short-body through-hole package (supplier device package TO-92-3). The three leads — supply, ground, and analog output — fit a standard 0.100-inch pitch layout. No exposed thermal pad; the plastic body dissipates heat through the leads into the board copper, so a short trace to a via or a small copper island under the part improves thermal coupling in high-ambient applications. The 2.7 V to 38 V supply range means a single decoupling capacitor (0.1 µF ceramic near the supply pin) is sufficient for most layouts. The analog output voltage swings ratiometrically with the supply, so a clean local reference or a regulated rail improves ADC reading stability.
AEC-Q100 temperature grade and what it means for duty
This is the under-hood / engine-bay band — the sensor maintains its temperature-compensated linear output across the full range without external calibration. For a transmission oil-temperature probe or an exhaust-gas recirculation position sensor, the 150°C ceiling covers the hottest soak conditions with margin. The temperature compensation is built into the Hall plate biasing — the output voltage drift over temperature is trimmed during production, so the ±18 mT sensing range stays accurate from cold crank to hot soak. No external thermistor or lookup table is needed.
Sensing range and bandwidth for real-world signals
The ±18 mT sensing range covers both north and south pole fields, making it suitable for linear position sensing over a magnet travel of a few millimetres or for current sensing through a ferromagnetic core. The analog output voltage is proportional to the perpendicular field component; the sensitivity is ratiometric to the supply, so a 5 V rail gives a ~2.5 V zero-field offset with a ~1.25 V/mT slope. A 20 kHz bandwidth means the sensor can track rotating machinery up to several thousand RPM — a 60-tooth gear at 20,000 RPM produces a 20 kHz edge rate, right at the bandwidth limit. For faster edges, the output slew rate (not specified here) will attenuate the amplitude; for most automotive speed and position applications below 10 kHz, the full-scale response is preserved.
The base product number DRV5053 covers multiple sensitivity and package variants — the 'EAE' suffix denotes the ±18 mT range and the TO-92-3 package. If a different sensitivity or a surface-mount package is needed, the DRV5053 family includes SOT-23 and other options with the same supply range and temperature grade.
