Engine-bay magnetic sensing with AEC-Q100 grade
The DRV5053CAQLPGMQ1: The -40°C to 125°C operating range covers the full engine-bay thermal profile with margin for self-heating. Rated for a ±35 mT sensing range with a single-axis analog voltage output, this sensor is suited for linear position detection, current-sense applications using a ferrite core, and brushless-DC rotor position feedback where the magnetic field swings through zero.
Supply and bandwidth for real-time control loops
The 2.5V to 38V supply range lets the sensor run directly off a 12V or 24V automotive battery bus without an intermediate regulator — the internal biasing handles the rail variation. Maximum supply draw is 3.6 mA, so the sensor adds negligible load to the vehicle's always-on battery line. With a 20 kHz bandwidth, the analog output tracks magnetic field changes fast enough for closed-loop motor current control and gear-position sensing at shaft speeds exceeding 10,000 RPM. The output drives up to 2.3 mA into the downstream ADC input — enough for most microcontroller SAR converters without an external buffer.
Package and integration on a wiring harness
Housed in a TO-92-3 through-hole package (TO-226-3 short body variant), the sensor mounts directly to a PCB or can be wired into a harness with flying leads. The three pins are supply, ground, and analog output — no external pull-up or pull-down resistors are needed for the output.
