Automotive-grade Hall sensing with a 20 kHz bandwidth
The DRV5053CAELPGMQ1 is a single-axis linear Hall-effect sensor from Texas Instruments, qualified to AEC-Q100 for automotive applications. It delivers an analog voltage output proportional to the magnetic flux density, with a ±35 mT sensing range that covers common position and current-sense targets in 12 V and 24 V vehicle electrical systems. A 20 kHz bandwidth means the sensor tracks fast-changing fields — rotor position in a brushless DC motor or AC current in a shunt-based sense circuit — without the phase lag that would alias the feedback loop at lower frequencies.
Wide supply and temperature envelope
The 2.7 V to 38 V supply range lets the sensor run directly off an unregulated automotive battery bus — no intermediate regulator needed for the sensor rail. The 3.6 mA max supply current keeps the thermal budget low even in a sealed ECU enclosure. The temperature-compensated design (listed as a feature) reduces the bias drift that would otherwise shift the output null point across the engine-bay thermal cycle.
Through-hole package for retrofit and rugged builds
The TO-92-3 short-body through-hole package (supplier device package TO-92-3) simplifies hand-assembly and rework. It suits retrofit into existing PCB layouts that were designed for the older TO-92 footprint, and the three leads — supply, ground, output — map directly to a standard header or terminal block.
