±12 mT trip point sets the magnet budget
The DRV5033AJQLPGM is an omnipolar magnetic switch from Texas Instruments — it responds to either a north or south pole above the threshold, so the magnet orientation in the assembly is not critical. The ±12 mT operate point and ±1 mT release hysteresis mean a common N35-grade neodymium disc magnet placed a few millimetres from the TO-92 package will reliably toggle the output; the wide hysteresis prevents chatter from mechanical vibration or temperature drift. The temperature-compensated design keeps the BOP/BRP stable enough that the same magnet gap works from a cold start to steady-state heat soak.
Open-drain output, 2.7 V supply rail
The open-drain output sinks up to 30 mA and pulls to GND when the field exceeds the operate point; a pull-up resistor to the logic supply sets the output high state. Quiescent supply current is 2.7 mA typical, which is moderate for a Hall switch — not the lowest-power option for battery duty, but fine for continuously powered industrial or automotive modules. Through-hole TO-92-3 package (three leads, 2.54 mm pitch) is the standard footprint for hand-assembled boards, breadboard prototyping, and retrofit into existing sensor housings. The same package is used across the DRV5033 family, so a board layout for this variant accepts any sibling with the same trip polarity.
No official second-source or pin-compatible cross-reference is published by TI, but the DRV5033 family shares the same TO-92 pinout, so a different trip-point variant can be substituted if the magnet gap is re-characterised.
