What the 24mT trip point means for your magnetic circuit
The DRV5023BIQLPGMQ1 is a unipolar Hall-effect switch that triggers at 24 mT (typical) and releases at 3 mT (typical) when a south pole is presented. That 21 mT hysteresis prevents output chatter from vibration or magnetic field ripple — the switch stays latched until the field drops well below the trip threshold. The open-drain output pulls to ground when the field is present; an external pull-up resistor to the logic supply sets the output high level.
Automotive temperature grade and package
The through-hole TO-92 package (3-pin) is a standard footprint that hand-solders easily and survives reflow on a wave-solder line without MSL concerns. The 30 mA maximum output current drives a PLC input, a relay coil, or a logic gate directly — no buffer needed. At 2.7 mA supply current, the sensor's own draw is negligible for battery-backed or always-on systems.
