Haptic driver with integrated control and power stage
The TI DRV2605YZFT is a fully integrated haptic driver that combines the control logic and power stage in a single 9-DSBGA package. It drives both ERM and LRA motors commonly used in touch-feedback and vibration-alert applications.
Temperature grade and deployment environment
Rated for a junction temperature range of -40°C to 150°C, the DRV2605YZFT is suited for automotive cabin and industrial haptic interfaces where the actuator may be close to a heat source or in an unventilated enclosure. The extended high end — 150°C junction — provides margin for designs that need to derate output current at elevated ambient temperatures.
Output stage and motor compatibility
The half-bridge output configuration (two half-bridges) drives both ERM and LRA loads. ERM motors get a DC voltage for spin-up; LRA actuators receive an AC waveform tuned to their resonant frequency. The integrated Power MOSFET stage handles the load current without external FETs. This integration simplifies the BOM for a haptic channel to one driver IC plus the actuator itself.
Package and footprint
Housed in a 9-ball DSBGA package, the DRV2605YZFT requires a PCB with via-in-pad or microvia capability for routing. The small footprint saves board area in space-constrained wearable and handheld designs.
