Camera autofocus actuator driver with I²C bus
The DRV201YFMT is a fully integrated voice coil motor (VCM) driver from Texas Instruments, combining control logic and power stage in a single 6-DSLGA package. It is designed to drive the miniature voice coil actuators used in camera autofocus modules, where precise lens positioning is required. Communication with a host processor runs over an I²C interface, allowing the system to set the lens position with fine resolution. The output stage is a half-bridge configuration using NMOS and PMOS transistors, delivering up to 102.3 mA to the voice coil.
Both the load supply and the logic supply share a common range of 2.5 V to 4.8 V, which aligns with the typical rail in battery-powered camera modules. The operating temperature spans -40°C to 125°C junction, covering the full automotive and industrial ambient range without derating. The 6-DSLGA package (0.9 mm × 1.4 mm typical) is a small, leadless land-grid array suited for space-constrained camera sub-assemblies.
For BOM planning, this is a current-design-in part with no announced obsolescence.
