What the DM7400M is and what it does on the board
The DM7400M is a quad 2-input NAND gate from Texas Instruments, part of the standard 7400 TTL logic family. It packages four independent NAND gates in a single 14-pin DIP — the classic glue-logic building block that generates inverted AND functions, debounces switch inputs, or builds gated oscillators in legacy and current TTL designs.
Active lifecycle and what that means for a BOM line
One caveat for compliance-driven builds: the DM7400M is RoHS non-compliant, meaning the lead-frame finish is tin-lead rather than pure tin. That makes it the right choice for military, aerospace, or other hi-rel assemblies that require a tin-lead solder joint to avoid tin whiskers — but it will not pass a RoHS declaration for commercial products that require lead-free assembly.
Package form and what Bulk delivery means
The DM7400M ships in Bulk — loose tubes or trays, not tape-and-reel. For a rework bench or a low-volume production run that hand-places through-hole parts, Bulk is the natural format. For high-speed pick-and-place, you would need the tape-and-reel variant (check the TI ordering guide for the -R suffix).
