The DAC8541Y/250 is a 16-bit, single-channel, buffered voltage-output digital-to-analog converter in a 32-TQFP package. Its string-DAC architecture delivers monotonic performance with integral and differential nonlinearity of ±1 LSB maximum — the kind of linearity that matters when the DAC output directly sets a valve position or a power-supply reference without a calibration step in firmware. Settling time is 10 µs to within 1 LSB for a full-scale step, which puts the update rate comfortably above 100 kHz for most control loops. The parallel data interface means all 16 bits arrive in one bus cycle — no serial shift-out delay, so the DAC tracks a real-time waveform or responds to a PLC backplane write without jitter from a serial clock.
Dual supply rails and industrial temperature range
The external reference input (REF) sets the full-scale voltage — the DAC's output span equals the reference voltage times the gain, so the system designer chooses the reference to match the ADC's input range or the actuator's drive requirement.
